British Virgin Islands change laws to make destination weddings easier

Posted by on 7 March 2013 | 0 Comments

At the end of 2012 the British Virgin Islands changed their marriage laws in order to make it easier for couples to have a destination wedding on the islands. Couples now only have to be in the BVI for 24 hours before being granted a licence, previously 48 hours, and there is also now an online service allowing couples to complete a number of the documents and registration online, reducing the amount of island hopping required when in the BVI. Prior to the changes being made it was necessary for couples to visit three different locations to obtain the necessary documentation for their marriage licence application. www.crisvi.gov.vg
