~ Sandals Montego Bay celebrates National Swimming Pool Day after launching the Caribbean’s first swim up bar in 1984 ~

July 2019; Celebrate National Swimming Pool Day on July 11th, with a cocktail or two at Sandals' flagship resort, Sandals Montego Bay, as Sandals Resorts celebrates the 35th anniversary of its iconic swim-up pool bar.

Opening its doors to guests in 1981, Sandals Montego Bay was the very first Luxury Included® resort in the Sandals Resorts family and home to some of the most innovative ideas of its time. Introduced in 1984 by founder and Chairman Gordon, ‘Butch’ Stewart, the swim-up pool bar has since become an iconic centerpiece of Sandals Resorts over the last 35 years.

Since then, Sandals Resorts have continued innovating by introducing many ‘firsts’ to the Caribbean beyond the swim-up pool bar – from Swim-Up Suites, to the iconic Over-the-Water Villas and Bungalows found at Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast, in Jamaica, as well as at Sandals Grande St. Lucian in Saint Lucia.

Other signature swimming pools at Sandals Resorts include:

Skypool Suites: Available at Sandals Grenada and Sandals’ newest resort, Sandals Royal Barbados, these magnificent Love Nest Butler Suites are the pinnacle of luxury. The exceedingly romantic bedroom boasts a king-size bed with direct access to a private cantilevered Skypool with infinity edge, where couples can admire the turquoise waters of the Caribbean while floating in the sky.

Rooftop pools: Sandals Resorts’ newest property, Sandals Royal Barbados is home to the brand’s first ever rooftop infinity pool. Situated just a stone’s throw away from the white sands of the famed St. Lawrence Gap area, this rooftop pool is the perfect location to sunbathe, relax in the surrounding lounge areas, and enjoy breathtaking vistas of the ocean. The pool is also complete with a fine-dining rooftop restaurant and bar.

Guests looking to tie the knot at Sandals Royal Barbados can now do so at the resort’s new exclusive rooftop wedding location. Overlooking the Caribbean’s crystal-clear waters those looking to say ‘I Do’ can exchange vows at the resort’s rooftop pool – the perfect setting for panoramic views. Seating a maximum of 50 guests, this new venue offers a semi-private ceremony space and cocktail reception. *Rooftop Weddings are subject to an additional charge.
