Air Jamaica vice president for finance Howard Hall has stepped up to become the general manager of the airline following the departure of Bruce Noble.
Mr Noble completed his second stint in charge of the airline in June, and was praised for the instrumental role played assisting the government of Jamaica in preparing the airline for privatisation.
Air Jamaica recently merged with Caribbean Air to create the largest carrier in the region.
Dennis Lalor, chairman of Air Jamaica, thanked Nobles for his work and said: “The entire Air Jamaica team thanks Bruce for being an excellent leader who remained steadfast in dynamic times.”
Nobles first served as chief operating officer of Air Jamaica from June 2002 to March 2003, before rejoining the airline in October 2008.
Caribbean Airlines chief executive Ian Brunton added: “Mr Nobles’ agile mind, entrepreneurial spirit, and his credentials in global aviation all greatly contributed to his invaluable leadership, through what has been one of the most challenging periods of the airline’s history.”
New Era
Howard Hall has served two tenures at Air Jamaica, first as chief financial officer from 2000 to 2004, and again as vice president for finance and IT since October 2008.
He has considerable expertise in financial planning and general management and, according to insiders, has been pivotal in the transformation Air Jamaica.
While becoming general manager he will also continue to function in his current role as head of finance and IT.
