Michiel Godfried “Mike” Eman currently serves as the 5th Prime Minister of Aruba, having assumed office on 28 March 2025, succeeding Evelyn Wever-Croes. He previously held the position from 2009 to 2017, marking his second tenure in this esteemed role.

Born on 1 September 1961 in Oranjestad, Aruba, Eman hails from a prominent political family. His grandfather, father, and brother were all influential politicians, with his brother, Henny Eman, serving as Aruba’s first Prime Minister after achieving status aparte in 1986.

Eman earned his law degree from the University of the Netherlands Antilles in 1992, with a thesis focusing on the role of the Public Prosecutor in small-scale communities. He further specialized in Civil Notary Law in 1996.

As leader of the Aruban People’s Party (AVP), Eman’s administration emphasizes economic diversification, sustainable development, and strengthening Aruba’s position within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
