In the heart of the Caribbean, the twin-island Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis has found a dynamic leader in Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Michael Drew. Since assuming office on August 6, 2022, Dr. Drew has been steering the nation with a vision rooted in health, equity, and sustainable development.
From Medicine to the Helm of Governance
Born on November 22, 1976, Dr. Drew’s journey began in Saint Kitts, where he cultivated a passion for medicine. After completing his early education at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, he pursued medical studies in Cuba, graduating from the Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara. Further honing his expertise, he specialized in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine .
His medical career, spanning over two decades, saw him serving as a general practitioner at the Joseph N. France General Hospital and later establishing his private practice. This foundation in healthcare deeply influences his approach to governance, emphasizing the well-being of citizens as paramount.
A Visionary Leader on the Global Stage
Dr. Drew’s leadership extends beyond national borders. As the Lead Head for Human Resource Development, Health, and HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Quasi Cabinet, and Chair of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), he plays a pivotal role in regional policy-making.
His recent visit to Cuba underscores his commitment to international collaboration, particularly in areas of health and sustainable development.
Championing Health Equity and Sustainable Development
Under Dr. Drew’s administration, health equity has taken center stage. The successful hosting of the Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) 2025 mission, which provided medical care to over 2,000 patients, exemplifies his dedication to accessible healthcare.
Beyond health, his government is actively pursuing sustainable development initiatives, aiming to transform Saint Kitts and Nevis into a resilient and environmentally conscious nation.

In May 2025, Dr. Drew faced a significant challenge when he publicly condemned an attempted blackmail and extortion against the government. His transparent handling of the situation reinforced his commitment to integrity and the rule of law.
