Basseterre, St. Kitts (October 3, 2019) - On Monday night, September 30, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority presented two all-expense-paid trips to two lucky winners to play in its 10th Annual St. Kitts-Nevis Admirals Cup golf tournament taking place from February 1-6, 2020. The trips were awarded at the conclusion of the New York State Golf Association's (NYSGA) Amateur Series Championship as part of St. Kitts' partnership with the organization, now in its second consecutive year.

"Congratulations to all NYSGA members who qualified for the season-ending championship and thanks to all members for giving us the opportunity to educate you about what our islands have to offer," said the Hon. Mr. Lindsay F.P. Grant, Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce. "The NYSGA Amateur Series Championship marks the end of St. Kitts' season-long promotion for The Admirals Cup Pro-Am Tournament, our premier golf event to build awareness for the destination among these experiential lifestyle travelers. I look forward to personally welcoming the winners to island in February."

As the presenting sponsor of the NYSGA Amateur Series, St. Kitts and the Association have been promoting the Admirals Cup along with St. Kitts as a golf destination at all 25 events in the series. At each event, St. Kitts provided samples of its own Brinley Gold Shipwreck Coconut Crème rum along with prizes awarded by random drawing including Admirals Club logoed items from caps and towels to tumblers and for a "closest to the hole" contest.

NYSGA Amateur Series events were open to all NYSGA members throughout the season, wherein the golfers accumulated points for participation and performance. The top 200 players on the points list were invited to the Championship event, played on Monday, September 30, by 95 total players at the Schuyler Meadows Club in Loudonville, New York. At the post-Championship dinner, the two winners were selected by random drawing to receive an all-expense-paid trip to St. Kitts consisting of a 4-night/5-day golf package for two at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel to compete in the 10th Annual Admirals Cup tournament that will be held February 1-6, 2020. Each player will recruit a playing partner to join them in the Am-Am Division of the tournament.

The two winners of the all-inclusive trip to St. Kitts were Karl Heath of Wild Wood Country Club and Bob Fenton of SGATOUR.com. Upon being selected, Karl Heath said, "Oh, man.  I could not believe it when I heard my name called.  I am so excited to go to St. Kitts. I've been thinking about the Admirals Cup tournament all summer.  Let's go!"

Fellow winner Bob Fenton was also happily surprised and commented, "Wow!  I am shocked.  I've heard so many great things about St. Kitts.  I can't wait to get there.  My wife is going to be more surprised than I am." said Bob Fenton.

"The support that St. Kitts Tourism Authority has provided over the past two seasons has allowed the NYSGA to keep player costs down, while enhancing the event experience and promotional incentives for members participating in the events. New York golfers are now thinking about St. Kitts & Nevis when they look towards planning a golf vacation or general travel opportunities in the Caribbean," said Andrew Hickey, Assistant Executive Director of the NYSGA.
