When money is no object, there is only place to vacation – The Caribbean.  With more than 700 islands to choose from we asked Caribbean World readers for the latest gossip on just who is vacationing where – and with who?!


Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – Mustique
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have enjoyed precious downtime together with their young children on Mustique – the latest of a handful of visits. Located within a chain of islands in the West Indies, Mustique has been a favourite spot with royals for decades: Princess Margaret frequented in early 1960 and Prince William and Kate are said to relish the lack of protocols or expectations. 

Rhianna – Barbados
Singing sensation Rihanna was born in Barbados in the parish of St. Michael, so she enjoys a true feeling of ‘coming home’ whenever her recording and tour schedule allows it. When back on home soil, Rihanna is evidently proud of her Barbados roots – for a number of years she has worked on a marketing campaign promoting the island as a vacation destination and is also an honorary Ambassador for Culture and Youth in Barbados. 

Tiger Woods – Barbados
Now that he is back on form, controversial golfer Tiger Woods has signalled that he will be returning to his holiday favourite Barbados. Woods married his ex-wife at prestigious Sandy Lane before the much publicised hoo-ha in the tabloids. He is said to be looking forward to a “low key, low profile vacation” – but is that possible with Tiger Woods around? 

Nicki Minaj– Trinidad
Out-spoken rapper, singer and songwriter Nicki Minaj was born Onika Tanya Maraj in Saint James, Trinidad and is given a Hero’s Welcome when she arrives in her hometown for a holiday. Though she was raised in Queens, New York City, Minaj says “Trinidad still holds a special place in my heart”. She gained public recognition after releasing the mixtapes Playtime Is Over, Sucka Free, and Beam Me Up Scotty. 

Sir Richard Branson – Necker Island
Though he is pre-occupied with holidaying in outer space these days,billionaire Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson still has time to spend at his phenomenal home in the Bahamas, where he owns the 74-acre Necker Island that he purchased over 30 years ago. Legendary stars such as Robert De Niro, Steven Spielberg, Kate Winslet and Princess Diana have all visited this eco-friendly luxury resort. Fancy a stay? Rates start at around $53,000 per night with a 5-night minimum. Sir Richard Branson also allows his employees to vacation at his property, which makes him the greatest boss in the world!

Mariah Carey – Anguilla
As a holiday destination, singer diva Mariah Carey a massive fan of Anguilla and its 33 magnificent stretches of sand. Carey has visited frequently over the last few years, and loves to soak up the whole barefoot celebrity beach vibe – describing Anguilla as “her true paradise”. 

Lenny Kravitz – The Bahamas
With Bahamian roots on his mother's side, and plenty of family and friends on the islands, mop-haired musician frequently Lenny Kravitz is a frequent traveller the Bahamas for Caribbean holidays and family celebrations. 

Keith Richards - Turks and Caicos
Ageing rocker Keith Richards admits to living life on the road and loves nothing more than touring. However when he allows himself some R&R, he heads to the soft sands of Turks and Caicos – and enjoys sitting in the sun, strumming his guitar. “I never go on holiday without a guitar” he says. 

Cuba Gooding, Jr– Barbados
He has family ties, as his grandfather is a native of Barbados – so it’s a no-brainer when it comes to choosing a Caribbean vacation destination – Cuba Gooding, Jr always picks his favourite spot in the Lesser Antilles. Look out for him in the capital and largest city, Bridgetown.
